THEORY OF GROUPING OF IDENTICAL CELLS
– Identical Cells connected in series– In order to have maximum current through the circuit, the cells should be connected in series, only when the total internal resistance is very small compared to the external resistance.
– Identical Cells connected in Parallel – To get maximum current, cells are connected in parallel when the external resistance is very small compared to the total internal resistance of the cells.
– Mixed Grouping of Cells – To obtain maximum current from a mixed grouping of cells, they are grouped in such a way that, the external resistance is equal to the total internal resistance of the cells.
